Letter Issued on 27th May 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

As ever, we hope this finds you and your families well.

Please find attached our plan for the proposed partial re-opening of primary schools from 1st June 2020. It follows the approval of the school risk assessment by the Governing Board on 26th May 2020.

We are grateful for your patience and continued support over the past week. We are sure that you will understand that this has been a significant undertaking to ensure, as best we can, the safety of all members of our school community.

The plan follows all considerations of current guidance from the government and the local authority and will apply only once the government confirms that all five of its stages for re-opening are met.

Initially, the risk assessment required us to carry out a re-measuring of all possible teaching areas with required social distancing measures applied. As a result, our maximum capacity has been significantly reduced and it is, therefore, not possible for all year groups identified by the government to return at the same time. The plan therefore prioritises pupils from oldest to youngest.

As we move forward, please understand that parents/carers will not be compelled to send their children back if they feel uncomfortable with the level of risk. The government have clearly stated that there will be no penalty if this is what you choose to do. In addition, learning packs and phone calls from teachers to families will continue in line with our current practice.

Be assured that we will review the plan in line with any future changes in advice.

Thank you for your continued support and best wishes to you all.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs. J.A. Forshaw
