Year 4 2021 - 2022
“We Share, We Value, We Respect”
Welcome back after the summer break, we hope you all had an enjoyable summer holiday! Year 4 is a very exciting year and there are many enjoyable activities to look forward to. I am sure that you and your child are looking forward to the fun yet challenging year that lies ahead.
As a Year 4 pupil, your child will be given the fantastic opportunity to learn to play the violin in weekly lessons and participate in a class ensemble. Every Thursday afternoon they will receive lessons leading up to a whole class performance.
On Monday afternoons all children will go swimming. They need to bring with them a swimming costume or trunks, a towel and a swimming hat. Every child has to wear a swimming hat. Please remember to send your child in with a coat, even if it looks fine in the morning, it can change by lunch time.
Children can bring their book bags to school on a Friday as this is our reading day. They need to bring in their school reading books and diary so that a new book can be given and sent home the same day. When your child reads at home please sign the reading diary.
Homework will be set each week. Children will need to learn their spellings and timestables for their test on Friday mornings. Children will be provided with online maths homework. This maths homework will be set on Monday and should be completed by the following Monday, this will help consolidate any new learning that has taken place through the week. Each half term children will be given a project to complete. Learning plans, spellings and project information will be uploaded onto google classroom as well as a copy sent home.
To ensure the least disruption to your child’s education children should only bring essential equipment to school. Each day children only need a coat and water bottle. Reading books and bookbags can come to school on Fridays. Unfortunately, large bags are not permitted. PE kits can stay in school until the half term holidays. Swimming bags can come into school on Mondays. Thank you for your support in this matter.
You will be aware that government guidance states that a full class will now not have to isolate if ONE pupil tests positive for Covid-19. However, should multiple cases within a given period arise, Public Health will advise on any subsequent actions. These actions will be forwarded to you.
Therefore please be reassured that all measures in place are to ensure the least possible disruption to your child’s education.
If you have any concerns or questions regarding your child, please feel free to contact me.
As ever, we thank you for your understanding and support to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all our school community.
